Chapter President Report

We're rolling right into February and I hope you've kept those New Year resolutions. Thank you to those that came out to the last meeting! We had a great turnout! Our golf tournament is March 13th, 2026! Yes, that's Friday the 13th!

This month we had engineers week! Let me know if you or your company did any activities for that. We should have another great turnout for this month's meeting since we had engineers week!
ASPE National and the chapter have several events coming up and we've updated our calendar for your convivence. If you need any information about those events or want to get involved please reach out to me and I'll get you in touch with the right people. Also, if you have suggestions for future technical programs topics, please reach out to myself and/or Les Scott.

Chapter Technical Report

This month we are reviewing a reviewing a webinar discussing Fire Protection Systems for Mission Critical Facilities.
- We will learn about best practices for the fire protection systems in mission critical facilities.
- Understand how to identify and address challenges to ensure long-term safety.
- Bring awareness to emerging technologies that will impact the industry.

As of February 15, 2026, the effective date of the 2024 North Carolina State Building Code has been postponed multiple times by actions of the Governor and General Assembly. The new code will become effective no sooner than March 1, 2027, and may be further delayed

The 2024 Code will take effect 12 months after the State Fire Marshal certifies that required publication, distribution, and Residential Code Council appointments are complete

Until the 2024 Code becomes effective, all licensing exams for plumbing, heating, fuel piping, and fire sprinkler contractors will continue to be based on the 2018 North Carolina State Building Code, including referenced standards such as:
