The First Meeting

1987

In late 1987, a group of designers and product representatives met and discussed starting a local ASPE chapter.  Those in attendance formed the core of the Piedmont (Charlotte) Chapter of ASPE. Following what is now known as the chapter’s first meeting, an interim board was formed with the support of local representatives

The Petition

1988

After eight months of meeting, a petition for charter approval along with a list of members who pledged support was sent to the ASPE National Board. The chapter’s petition was ultimately approved, which led to the signing of the Chapter Charter.

The Charter

A celebratory banquet was held on August 5, 1988 where Charter Officers and 11 others signed the Chapter Charter

The Name

2000

The chapter’s name was officially changed to the Charlotte Chapter of ASPE

The Charter

 William (Bill) Waddington, Robert (Bob) Parker, David Lewis, Danny Todd, Ralph Ferrell and Jeff Harris, with the Chapter Charter.  

The Celebration

The Charter Banquet was well attended. ASPE President Phil French presided.
